Every once in a while it is important to be reminded that there is often a difference between what we want and what we actually need in this world. There is a heartwarming video making its way around social media showing a young man who just got a brand new pair of sneakers he desperately wanted giving the shoes away to a homeless veteran walking down the street barefoot who was so obviously in need.

“I got some brand new shoes right here,” the unidentified man says as he proudly shows off his pair of white Adidas sneakers.
Moments later, a disheveled man can be seen walking barefoot down the street towards the car the man with the new shoes is in. When the homeless man gets to the window, the man asks why he doesn’t have any shoes on and soon learns the sad truth.
“The shoes that I had, not only wore out, they put blisters on them toes,” the man, who goes by Sarge, explained. “So I can’t wear them no more.”
Sarge said that he had gotten caught in the rain earlier in the day, which soaked his socks and pants. The man in the car then asks Sarge what size shoe he wears and begins taking the shiny new sneakers off his feet.
“Man, I can’t take your shoes like that,” a visibly emotional Sarge declared.
The young man insisted, even though they were clearly a little large for the veteran’s size-nine feet.
“That ain’t no problem,” Sarge said of the size. He later likened the new kicks to “putting clouds on my feet.”
He went on to explain that he received the nickname “Sarge” while serving in the military and has had trouble securing benefits from both the VA and the state.
Needless to say, he was deeply moved the young man’s gesture, and he looked up to the sky in gratitude.
“God, you look after this man, now,” he said.
Conservative radio host Wayne Dupree shared the clip on Twitter, praising the man for not hesitating to help a stranger in need.
“This planet could use a lot more people like this young man who helped this homeless veteran,” Dupree tweeted.
Amen.
