“Every Christian should go to Israel,” said rapper Spec in a new video showcasing he and four other Christian rappers’ trip to Jesus’ homeland.
Israel Collective, a group dedicated to connecting American Christians to people of the Holy Land, produces short films to show Christians around the world connecting with the country.
In this case, the four rappers — Spec, Flame, Thi’sl, and Mike REAL — visited Israel and came away awed and excited by their experience.
“Going to Israel and seeing it in real time and seeing it with my own eyes…I think every Christian should go,” said Thi’sl. “To go and see the Southern Wall, to see…where the veil was torn, to see Golgotha, to see a tomb — it was just mind blowing to walk through and see these scriptures come to life.”
So often, the media narrative portrays a negative stereotype of both Israel and the Middle East as a whole. But Israel Collective aims to show the positive side and to love both Israelis and Palestinians in their mission.
“One of the things I experienced by being there was the diversity of Jewish people…Jewish people from all over the world who have migrated from different points in history and have made this place their home…it just opened my mind,” said Flame.
All of the rappers valued the experience of stepping into the land where Jesus walked and wanted to speak against the negative narrative many hear about Israel in the news. They also assured viewers that they met not only Israelis, but Palestinians and Arab Muslims as well — and each experience was a good one.
