Ex-CIA officer Valerie Plame is on a mission to ban President Donald Trump from Twitter, a key social media platform he uses to interact with the American public.
Plame, a former spy who had her identity revealed in leaks that unfolded during the George W. Bush administration, has launched a $1 billion GoFundMe aimed at “buying” Twitter so that she and others can prevent Trump from using the platform to say “horrible things,” according to a description of the crowdfunding effort.
The former agent believes the president has “weaponized Twitter” and must be stopped.
“Donald Trump has done a lot of horrible things on Twitter. From emboldening white supremacists to promoting violence against journalists, his tweets damage the country and put people in harm’s way,” the description reads. “But threatening actual nuclear war with North Korea takes it to a dangerous new level.”

Since Twitter has reportedly ignored calls to ban Trump, Plame is hoping to force the company’s hand by purchasing a controlling interest in the social media giant. It’s unclear if that’s even possible.
“There’s a real danger that Trump’s tweets could actually start a nuclear war,” the warning continues. “Let’s delete his account before that happens … We can’t take Trump’s nukes away (yet!), but we can take away his biggest megaphone and stop him from tweeting armageddon.”
The strange fundraiser, which went live six days ago, has brought in just over $7,600 at the time of this article’s publication. It’s also unclear how serious Plame is taking the initiative, and it appears unlikely that $1 billion could be raised.
But, you never know.
