When J.C. Spencer and his wife, Karen, realized they had to get out of their quickly flooding home during the Houston flood, they weren’t sure how they would do it. But, thinking outside the box, the couple quickly devised a solution. They called Chick-fil-A.
“We had to get out of there so I called Chick-fil-A, now that sounds kind of funny…I ordered two grilled chicken burritos with extra egg and a boat,” said J.C. Spencer. “And can you believe that one of the managers of Chick-fil-A, she sent her husband to pick us up and we are so grateful.”
The owners of the restaurant knew the Spencers, an elderly couple who frequented the local Chick-fil-A. When they realized the problem, they used their own boat to go pick up their customers. Even then, more good Samaritans arrived on jet skis to help transport more of their belongings from the house.
