Amid growing tensions between the U.S. and North Korea, U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley delivered some tough words for Kim Jong Un on Monday, warning that America’s patience isn’t “unlimited.”
“To the members of the Security Council I must say: enough is enough,” Haley proclaimed before an emergency U.N. Security Council meeting assembled to deal with the North Korean threat. “We have taken an incremental approach and, despite the best of intentions, it has not worked.”
She warned that the time to exhaust diplomatic relations has arrived and said that all efforts have thus far failed.
Haley also said that, while the North Korean government wants to be a nuclear power, the point of possessing those “terrible weapons” isn’t to “threaten others.”
“[Kim Jong Un’s] abusive use of missiles and his nuclear threats show that he is begging for war,” Haley added. “Our country’s patience is not unlimited.”

Haley’s remarks come as North Korea continues to defy U.S. and international warnings, testing nuclear weapons and, most recently, a hydrogen bomb. Additional sanctions are on the table.
“We have kicked the can down the road long enough,” Haley added. “There is no more road left.”
