A domestic abuse survivor had an emotional reaction when seeing her corrected smile for the first time.
Marshall resident Kyleigha Scott, 28, had gone to Marshall Family Dental on Oct. 12 for a wisdom tooth extraction when Dr. Kenny Wilstead noticed that she had a broken tooth.

Scott explained to Wilstead that she’d been dealing with the broken tooth for two years after her ex-boyfriend had headbutted her and another dentist told her he couldn’t fix it, Wilstead wrote on Facebook.
“She said she was definitely going to have me fix all her teeth with tax returns,” Wilstead wrote.
Wilstead did her one better and decided to fix the tooth at no charge.
“Whenever I look at people’s smile, I envision what it should look like and could look like. I took out her wisdom tooth pretty quick. She was brand new, I didn’t know her before that,” Wilstead told Chron.com earlier. “It took 10 minutes to do the whole thing; it’s a composite bond. It’s a white filling.”
Wilstead posted Scott’s tear-filled reaction to Facebook, which quickly went viral with hundreds of thousands of views in just a few days.
“This was her reaction,” Wilstead wrote. “A moment I will cherish forever.”
When Wilstead asked Scott what she thought of her new smile, she responded, “It’s amazing.”
Scott has since been posting photos of herself smiling on Facebook. When one friend commented that she loves seeing Scott smiling, she responded, “Girl, me too!!! I feel amazing!”
