Carson Daly, host of “The TODAY Show” and “The Voice,” is relying on his faith after losing two parents in just weeks.
Daly announced on Instagram Tuesday that his stepfather Richard Caruso, whom he affectionately referred to as “Pops,” had died at the age of 73.
“He exemplified great faith, loyalty to family & hard work. He provided us all with so much,” Daly wrote. “We’re grateful. His legacy lives on in all of us & anyone who had the pleasure of meeting him.”

Caruso, who had been battling bone cancer, passed away just one month after Daly’s mother, Pattie Daly Caruso, died after suffering from a sudden heart attack.
“He’s reunited with mom now,” Daly said. “Our faith remains strong. Thanks for your continued thoughts and prayers.”

Earlier on Tuesday, Daly responded to a fan on Twitter inquiring from his absence from “The TODAY Show,” explaining that he had a “rough month” after the passing of his mother, and that his stepfather’s health was now “in peril.”

Daly often raved about his stepfather, whom his mother married after his biological father died of bladder cancer in 1979, when Daly was still a young boy, NBC News reported.
“I always say that God blessed me with two incredible dads,” Daly said in 2013.

The next year, Daly spoke about how much he admired Caruso’s work ethic.
“I remember hearing his dress shoes hit our wood floor in Santa Monica as he would be leaving to work at about 5:00 in the morning,” he said. “Every day, I would wake up and go, ‘Wow, there’s Dad, going to work.”

Caruso would not return home until 6:30 p.m. on most nights, Daly said, adding that “family meant everything to him and he worked hard to provide for us.”
Despite the back-to-back tragedies, Daly has been a rock for his family with his unwavering faith, his wife, Siri Daly, wrote on Instagram.
