The Museum of the Bible is now open to the public. Hundreds of thousands of people from across the world will soon walk through one of the most high-tech museums in history and will get to experience the Bible come to life in ways no other museum has done before.
I am grateful to have had the opportunity to attend a special grand opening event with social media influencers and leaders from across the country and get to be one of the first to experience the Museum of the Bible.
Here a five of my takeaways from this amazing experience:
1. The museum is for everybody, not just Christians
That is exactly what we were told at the very beginning. It is not a place exclusively for Christians. It is not about one faith over another faith. It is not about one denomination over another. It is simply and completely all about the history and narrative of the Bible. The Bible is powerful.
2. The First century collides with the 21st century
One of the oldest books in history meets some of the most state of the art technology. I was inspired by the meticulous detail of the Bible history in every part of the building. Even the ceilings and elevators come alive! This interactive and immersive experiences make this museum anything but boring and something that my kids will love. The Museum is alive and well on social media on every popular platform and even has its own Snapchat filter. Just look at #museumofthebible to see more!
3. The impact of the Bible is beyond astonishing
The second floor of the Museum of the Bible is the impact floor. On that floor, you are immersed in an environment that reveals the Bibles impact on America, our Nation’s Capitol, the arts, and more. You even get to see the Liberty Bell and Guttenberg press. It is hard to deny the power of book that has been often burned and banned. I even got to see Elvis Presley’s Bible.
4. The Museum is way more than I could handle in just a few hours
This wow factor is off the scales in every way at the Museum. From the 40-foot Gutenberg Bible bronze doors, to a fascinating collection of exhibits on the history, culture, and story of the Bible. This museum is six full floors and a rooftop of the spectacular and the scripture. The Narrative floor brings the Bible to life in a way like none other. You feel like you are living the history of the Bible as you walk through the Old and New Testament. It would take more than a day to experience all that the museum has to offer.
5. Everybody is going to be talking about this museum and the Bible
In just a few days and in the days to come the conversation about the Bible is about to increase because of this place. The museum is a place that inspires, informs, and intrigues. I walked away with a greater sense of awe for the Bible and a greater desire to study the Bible.
As a church leader, I would highly recommend that Museum of the Bible is your next destination. It is worth it. You won’t regret it! I look forward to the buzz on the news and national media this week. The Bible cannot be ignored!
