Comedian John Crist is an absolute genius at keeping his finger on the pulse of contemporary Christian culture and poking a bit of fun at it along the way. You may have seen the recent video of conservative commentator Steven Crowder demonstrating Amazon’s virtual assistant “Alexa” espousing some rather progressive views.
When Crowder asked his Amazon Echo who Jesus Christ was, he received the instant reply: “Jesus Christ was a fictional character.” Crazy, right? Well, Crist has the answer to our troubles on this one – a very Christian Alexa, just in time for Christmas.
“Alexa, what’s the weather?” asks the comedian. “The Son is reigning,” Alexa barks back. “Say hello to the Christian Alexa, the believers alternative to the Amazon Echo,” narrates Crist in the spoof video. “Alexa, play Kanye West,” Crist then requests. “How about Matthew West?” replies Alexa.
Crist goes on to explain that Christian Alexa has “advanced situational recognition” and is simply “here to encourage.”

“Each Christian Alexa is uniquely programed to help you with your individual struggles,” adds Crist. He dives for a beer from his fridge. “That better be a coke bottle,” Alexa chimes in.
Crist tries again. He invites his girlfriend over for some dinner and calls on Alexa to play a bit of romantic music.
“Alexa, play a song to set the mood,” he says. “How about I call your accountability partner!” Alexa replies in her deadpan artificial voice.
