At least two people have been killed and around a dozen injured after a gunman opened fire at a New Mexico high school on Thursday, Fox News reported.

The incident unfolded at Aztec High School in Aztec, New Mexico. San Juan County Sheriff Ken Christesen reported three deaths and said that the shooter is deceased, though it was initially unclear if the gunman was included among the three.
KOAT-TV did later report that the shooter was among the three.
The San Juan Sheriff’s Office released a statement on Facebook on Thursday morning, noting that the school was on lockdown.

“Aztec High School is locked down and being evacuated. Please avoid the area,” it read. “Parents can stage at 516 and Mesa Verde near the church to pick up their kids. We will update this as we learn more.”
Other local schools are also on lockdown.
