Just in time for Christmas, an adorable video from Southland Christian Church is making its way around the internet again and giving children’s [hilarious] perspective on the birth of Jesus.
“The angel came to see Mary and she was doing laundry,” one of the kids begins to explain.
Being the practical young woman that she was, one child imagined what Mary said to the Angel Gabriel after he let her know that she would “have a baby” and “call him Jesus.”
“She said, ‘I’m not going to have a baby yet. I’m only a teenager, and I’m not married.’”
After determining that the angel then went to Joseph and told him: “Mary is not lying—you are having a baby,” the couple rode a donkey—or was it a camel?—to “Bethle-ha-ha-ham.”
They tried to “go to a hotel,” but there was no room for them, so they gave birth in a manger. All the while, an angel singing “glorious” appeared to the shepherds in a field and told them to go visit the child. They conferred, and the conversation, according to these kids, went something like:
“We should go immediately.”
“I agree with you.”
“Yeah, me too.”
Next, the three Wise Men heard about Jesus and noticed a star, which they followed. They arrived bearing gifts of a “hippo stuffed animal,” “diapers,” “wipes,” “milk,” and “Jordans,” depending on who you ask.
“He’s going to be our friend,” one of the Wise Men apparently said of Jesus.
“I love you,” Joseph added, “and you’re the best baby I’ve ever seen. There, I said it.”
While the children’s accounts were all slightly different, they did seem to agree on the most important thing: “The new baby is going to change the world.”
He sure did.
