Actress and singer Jana Kramer decided on Saturday to share an intensely personal tragedy on her Instagram in an effort to show women and men, alike, that they aren’t alone in their anguish: her miscarriage.

Kramer, 34, star of “One Tree Hill,” wrote that she originally debated posting about her recent loss, as she doesn’t want sympathy from the public.
But she said, “I just don’t want to feel alone” and expressed an urge to help others who face similar circumstances.
“This unfortunately isn’t my first loss,” Kramer wrote. “When I first found out I was pregnant I wanted to shout it from the rooftop but I know for reasons like this we have to wait.”
She said that women many times end up suffering in silence, as some haven’t told people around them about their pregnancies in an effort to protect against moments like these. Kramer then went on to offer some words of encouragement to other women like her.

“For the women out there who have miscarried in the past and need support and a place to grieve their little one lost or to those in the thick of it like me who are currently grieving and in pain, let us all be there for each other,” she said. “You don’t need to feel alone and maybe that’s me talking to myself but if you need a place to share, I’m here for you…and all of us are.”
Kramer also extended her message to men, who she said are sometimes also silenced and aren’t sure how to express their feelings about miscarriage.
The actress and singer added that she has been “crying and trying to listen to God” of late as she navigates her loss.
Kramer also referred people who have suffered loss to her friend’s blog, as she said that the blog was also a comfort for her after her own loss.
“I love you guys,” Kramer concluded, adding the hashtag #yourenotalone.
