A woman who discovered a small child walking out in the cold with no shoes or coat late Sunday night in Rockdale County, Georgia, believes that God put her in the right place at the right time.
Latoya Lewis told WSB-TV that she stopped to help the little boy, who told her that his mother was hurt after a car crash and that he was desperately looking for help.
“I could see his little hands and I thought, ‘Oh my God, what the heck is going on?’ I said, ‘Are you OK?'” Lewis said. “He said, ‘No, I’m freezing, my mom just crashed and no one would pull over.'”
Through tears, the little boy added, “My mommy’s bleeding and I hope she doesn’t die.”
That’s when Lewis set off on a mission to find the child’s mother, whose van had crashed into a tree in the woods.
She wrapped the boy in a sweater and put him in the back of her vehicle and spent 15 minutes searching for the woman’s van.
Lewis called 911 once she found the unconscious woman and paramedics quickly airlifted her to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. Meanwhile, cops searched for and found the little boy’s puppy, which he had just received on Christmas.
Now, Lewis is hoping to meet the woman once she recovers, telling the media that she believes the little boy is the real hero in this scenario.
Prayers up for the boy and his mother.
