At least one person is confirmed dead after a train carrying Republican members of Congress on their way to a retreat in West Virginia crashed into a garbage truck on Wednesday.
Rep. Greg Walden (R-Ore.) took to Twitter to share a photo of the wreckage as well as a message noting that no members of Congress were injured in the crash.
“We’re fine, but our train hit a garbage truck,” he wrote. “Members with medical training are assisting the drivers of the truck.”

One person is confirmed dead and there is one serious injury, though no members of Congress nor their staff were seriously harmed during the incident.
Some reports indicate that there could be two injuries.
Sen. Bill Cassidy (R., La.) said that he awoke abruptly from a nap when the train hit the truck. He joined others outside to help people in the truck. They attempted CPR, “but it was pretty clear he was dead,” Cassidy said. https://t.co/DC1jopuOSx
