Actress Roma Downey recently shared an incredibly moving story about how a suicidal woman who was about to take her own life stopped in her tracks after receiving a message from God.
Downey, author of the new book, “Box of Butterflies: Discovering the Unexpected Blessings All Around Us,” explained that the woman, who still has scars on her wrist, approached her after the near-death experience to share the moving and hope-fulled story.
“One night when she was full of despair, she decided to take her own life,” Downey said. “[She was] filled with anger at her family, because she felt abandoned and alone. Then, she cried out to God.”
But just as the woman lamented to the Lord that she was alone, she heard stirring words coming from her television screen. An episode of Downey’s show, “Touched By an Angel” was on and the angel Monica, Downey’s character, offered up a proclamation in that very moment that changed everything.
The angel said, “You are not alone. You have never been alone. Don’t you know that God loves you?” That statement led the woman to immediately stop and reconsider everything.
“She picked up a towel, wrapped up her wrists [and] called for an ambulance,” Downey said.
