Yet another incredible moment of musical praise has taken ‘The Voice’ by storm.
Team Blake’s Kyla Jade absolutely nailed her own version of the wonderful hymn ‘How Great Thou Art’ Monday. Her performance clearly impacted both judges and viewers in a profound way. According to her NBC profile, Kyla’s voice was “born in church” and “developed its power through performing in gospel choirs.” Kyla is also a former backup singer for megastar Jennifer Hudson, who was a judge on season 13 of The Voice.

Jade used to be the Music & Arts Director at Nashville’s Cathedral of Praise C.O.G.I.C., where Bishop Jerry L. Maynard is senior pastor. Jade has also been a part of the Greater St. Paul Church of God in Christ, which was founded by pastor Wayne L. Franklin, who was killed in a tragic car accident back in 2007.

“Kyla Jade has me bawling,” another Twitter user added. “So beautiful.”
“I’m a church baby. Our house was filled with music, my mom woke us up to music, we washed the dishes to music,” Kyla, a Kansas native, told Metro Voice News. “There were songs for going to school, everything, everything in my life. Most people learn the ABCs, everything in my life has a song, being a pedestrian, we have a song for that.”
“She has been a singer in her heart for all her life,” added Olivia Howard Kyla’s mom. “She has developed her craft and has worked so hard to get where she is.”
Jade’s stunning gospel performance earned her a place in the final 12, and she has become a firm favorite to win the contest and receive the coveted recording contract.

“I wanna say something that’s pretty simple, really,” Blake Shelton said, in admiration of the artists under his guidance. “I mean, I thought I had a good team, honestly. But I didn’t realize that you were all that freaking good, man.”
