Surveillance video shows the moment a would-be thief in Mexico was stopped in his tracks by a good Samaritan wearing a cowboy hat.
In the video, the suspect walks into the shop and approaches the store clerk, brandishing his gun while pointing at the cash register.

The Samaritan, who is standing near him at the counter looks over at the suspect, who then points the gun at him.
When the gunman turns around to point his gun at another patron, the good Samaritan grabs him from behind, releasing the gun from his grip during the struggle.
A butcher then runs to pick up a gun, while a third employee assists the heroic stranger in subduing the suspect.
The incident occurred at a butcher shop named Carnes Cares in Monterrey, Mexico, according to The Washington Post. The surveillance video has been viewed more than 256,000 since it was posted to the shop’s Facebook page on Monday.

The gunman had come to the store days before to stake it out, the shop’s co-owner, Daniel Cardenas, told the Post. Cardena’s father, Reynaldo Cardenas, who is also a store owner, was the hero of the day.
Although the elder Cardenas appeared cool, calm and collected in the video, he actually “acted that way out of fear,” Daniel Cardenas said.
“He really believed that the man was going to shoot them,” he said. “When he had the chance, he acted instinctively to disarm him.”
Police arrived about 10 minutes after the scuffle and took the suspect into custody.
Daniel Cardenas was not at the store at the time, but he was “glad” his father wasn’t hurt in the ordeal.
