Daniel Thomas is a 32-year-old British man suffering from an extremely rare form of cancer – Pleomorphic Sarcomatoid Carcinoma. Devastatingly, Thomas was recently given the news that his cancer is terminal. Since being diagnosed back in 2015, and to raise awareness about his condition and cancer in general, Thomas has been posting regular YouTube videos and giving updates on his condition via his blog. He is staggeringly candid about his deteriorating health and shares some fascinating insights into the way in which he is processing this immense battle for his life.
In his most recent video, entitled “The Idea of Comfort and Community,” Thomas, who goes by the nickname “PeeWeeToms,” explained how he had recently received a mysterious package in the post. The sending address was marked as “Michigan, USA.”

“It’s from some lovely people at “Love Sews Ministry,” Thomas explained. “Love Sews ministry are a dedicated group of volunteers in Holland, Michigan who make quilts.”

“It may seem like a simple thing,” he noted, “but it’s more than just a quilt. It’s a community-made quilt.”
According to its website, Love Sews Ministry is a Christian organization seeking to provide comfort to those who are enduring the most horrific forms of suffering.
“Love Sews’ mission is to make and provide custom quilts to those facing challenging life circumstances, in hopes of creating strength, hope, and a little bit of joy for the recipients. We are a Christian non-profit organization that works with individuals who are facing difficult times.
Love Sews Ministry was established in March 2013. To date our volunteers have completed more than 800 quilts that have been donated to individuals and families. So we are very excited about what God is doing and how He is using Love Sews Ministry to bring comfort, peace, and healing.”
Thomas, clearly overwhelmed by the quilt’s arrival, beautifully articulated his feelings in the wake of receiving such a simple gift and experiencing such a wonderful gesture of compassion. “They sent that across to me along with a card here – it was signed by everyone who made the quilt. That needs to be framed because that is awesome and heartwarming,” he said. “The quilt is just amazing – brightly colored and eccentric, just like me.”
“I can’t thank you guys enough. It’s beautiful what you do for people and the amount of joy that you bring with these beautiful quilts.”

Daniel said he will take the quilt with him as he embarks on another round of cancer treatment.
“It will go with me when I go for chemo, he said. “I’m feeling very unwell and its comforting. It’s something to hold and it’s comforting.”

“Comfort is key,” Thomas added. “When you feel really unwell, comfort is key. It is important to be comfortable.”
“I am just amazed by it. It really has brightened up my day. Thank you, guys.”
