Some absolutely heart-stopping footage has emerged of a man coming up extremely clutch and saving the life of a young child. The baby was flung from a second-floor window after a fire broke out at an apartment complex in South Carolina, a risky move that could’ve resulted in severe injury or death – if it weren’t for a sure handed hero.
In the stunning footage, which has been widely shared on social media, a heroic man can be seen catching the little one as ferocious flames roar up the side of the building at Ashford Cove Apartment Homes in Anderson.

Despite footage of the incident being shared around the world, this hero has yet to be identified. “The man…didn’t want any praise for the incident, however, one firefighter shook his hand and thanked him,” according to Fox Carolina. Many have speculated that the man is a former marine, though this has not been confirmed. No matter who he is, there is no doubt that this guy is something of a hero.
“Thank God he was there,” posted one user in response to the incredible footage.
“God placing the right person at the right place at the right time!” another added. “What are the chances of a strong Marine being right there at that very moment to catch that baby?”

The Charlotte Observer reported that the baby is just 11 months old. Though the child suffered bruises and scratches in the fall, they are otherwise reported to be doing well. The mother was also forced to jump to safety.
A dog, cat, and turtle were also rescued from the apartments, as reported by WSPA. Lt. Travis Poore with Anderson Fire Department stated the cause was a cooking fire on the stove.
