According to the Times of Israel, Malka told an assembled group of reporters that the prayers had strengthened her and her family and that the divine requests had “reached heaven.” Malka also thanked God, the security services and the courageous doctors and medical staff who saved her life.
Director of the surgical team at the Haemek medical center, Professor Doron Kopelman said he was encouraged by the young woman’s tremendous progress in her recovery.
“She is recovering from a very serious, dramatic stabbing, and there was a huge risk to her life,” he said. “She will remain with us for a few more days and I hope that she will be able to gradually return to normal life.”
The suspect has also been treated at hospital after he was shot in the leg by police as he fled the scene of the crime.
As for Malka, she is immensely grateful to be alive after such a terrifying ordeal.
“Thank God, who really, truly, performed a great miracle for us,” she said, as reported by Israel National News. “It wasn’t obvious at all during the moments after the attack that I was [still even] alive.”
“This stabbing wasn’t just something personal for me – it was for the whole Jewish people,” she added. “A reminder that we need to move forward, we need to get past this, to work harder, to excel.”
