As rumors continue to swirl and accusations continue to simmer, U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh’s wife is trying to sprinkle a little levity over the entire controversy.
President Donald Trump’s high court pick has been accused by Christine Blasey Ford of sexual assault. She claimed Kavanaugh pinned her down on a bed and molested her when they were both in high school. Ford said he was drunk at the time of the alleged encounter.
Ford, now 51 years old, told The Washington Post she “thought he might inadvertently kill me.”
Franklin Graham Weighs In on Sexual Assault Claims Against Kavanaugh
As a result of Ford’s charges and Kavanaugh’s denial, protesters and reporters have been camped outside the federal judge’s home for days.
Earlier this week, Kavanaugh’s wife of 14 years, Ashley Estes, decided to step outside their household to offer those demonstrating and reporting free cupcakes from Sprinkles, a bakery located in Washington, D.C.

The allegations against Kavanaugh first surfaced after Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), the ranking Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, went public with Ford’s claims against Kavanaugh following a report from The Intercept. Prior to the story breaking, Ford asked to remain anonymous.
Trump, for his part, has asked for a “full process” to examine the veracity of Ford’s accusations, though he remains confident everything will “work out very well” for the jurist.
Two Women Who Dated Kavanaugh Go on Record to Respond to Sex Allegations Against Him
Two women who dated Kavanaugh in high school and maintained relationships with him in college said they were shocked by Ford’s claims. One of the women said Kavanaugh “is nothing like the person who has been described.”
The other said Ford’s allegations “in no way represent the decent young man I knew.”
