A former Atlanta Falcons running back is likely to be handed down a hefty sentence after it emerged that he had been caught in a sexual situation with a 12-year-old girl. Justin Crawford, 23, who plays for the Atlanta Legends, was busted by his wife as he engaged in sexual behavior with the child, and was subsequently arrested by police in Columbus, Georgia.

Chakeya Crawford woke up around 5 a.m. on Oct. 13, before walking into her living room and finding her husband standing over a 12-year-old girl with his penis exposed. The football player immediately ran into the kitchen to cover up. “I did not see anyone having sex, or I would have called police right away,” Chakeya clarified to the Ledger-Enquirer.
She added that her husband told her he ran away because she “scared him.”
The wife then took the girl home, at which point the minor told her mom that Justin had got her to perform a sex act on him before they engaged in intercourse. According to Rolling Out, the child’s mother then rushed her daughter to hospital and a rape kit was administered. At this point, the police were also called.
When questioned by the authorities, the football star initially denied having any sexual relations with the girl, before admitting that they did have sex that night. Shockingly, however, he claimed that it was her idea, as reported by the Associated Press.
When he was hauled before the courts at his arraignment, the judge decided that there was probable cause to charge him with aggravated child molestation, sodomy and enticing a child for indecent purposes. According to official records, Crawford is also facing charges of incest.
In the state of Georgia, incest is officially defined as engaging in “sexual intercourse or sodomy … with a person whom he or she knows he or she is related to either by blood or by marriage.”
The football player is currently being held without bond at Muscogee County Jail, as requested by the judge.
According to ESPN, Crawford played for two seasons as a running back for West Virginia in the 2016-17 season, rushing for 2,245 yards and 11 touchdowns. The Atlanta Legends of the Alliance of American Football immediately suspended Crawford at the news of his arrest.
Do pray for this young girl as she deals with the trauma of going through such a dreadful ordeal.
