Apologia Church’s Pastor Jeff Durbin has recounted the terrifying moment his suffered a seizure just prior to Thanksgiving. “Pastor Jeff had an epileptic seizure last night,” read an ominous update from the Apologia Studio Facebook page Nov 21, adding that “we need for nothing right now except prayers.” It was certainly a highly concerning time for Pastor Jeff and his family, as his Church and online community held its breath for further news.

But then, yesterday, a more hopeful outlook. Jeff himself took to Facebook from his hospital bed to reveal more about his terrifying ordeal, and also took a minute to thank the Lord for keeping him safe. “I’m exhausted, a bit confused, and hurting all over my body,” Durbin wrote. “However, I am home. 2-nights ago was the scariest moment in my or my family’s life. It’s virtually impossible to accurately describe.”

Jeff wrote that at “one moment I was singing to my grandson and putting him to sleep,” then, suddenly, he experienced a “crazy head rush.” He passed out. “My whole family found me and witnessed me convulsing on the floor and bleeding all over the kitchen. I didn’t recognize the people I love. It’s really painful to think about,” he said, noting that the Fire Department First Responders had to “strap him down” as he was panicking and trying to fight them off.
Confused, Jeff noted that he didn’t even recognize his own family during the horrific episode. “I didn’t recognize the people I love. It’s really painful to think about,” he said.
Thankfully, however, the preaching pastor at “Apologia Church,” who well known for his pro-life advocacy, said his medical tests “came back very good.”
“The doctors have no real solid explanation except, possibly, stress, overworking, and physical exhaustion,” he added. “I am trying to rest and recover right now.”
Durbin also noted that, at a time when we are reminded to reflect on that which we are thankful for, he is overwhelmed with gratitude for all those who have supported and loved him through this terrifying health scare.
“I am thankful for my son, Sage Durbin, who kept calm and tried to encourage me even when I couldn’t recognize him. I am thankful to Kyle Pointer for finding me and notifying my family and 911. I am grateful for my wife, Candi Durbin, who stayed with me until they released me. I can’t express how confused and scared I was before I started becoming coherent at the hospital,” he wrote.
“Having her by my bedside is what brought me back to reality. I’m thankful to all my kids Saylor Durbin, Immagin Durbin, and Stellar Durbin who have been so strong and prayerful during this time. I am grateful for all of the countless messages of encouragement and of prayers on my behalf from around the world. That means so much to me. “
Do continue to pray for Jeff’s healing and recovery. Also remember to pray for Jeff’s wife, Candi, and their 4 children: Sage, Immagin, Saylor, and Stellar.
