An Arkansas senator is seeking to set up a lawmaking association made up of Bible-believing Christians. Sen. Jason Rapert emailed over 7,000 legislators this week with an invitation to join the National Association of Christian Lawmakers.

“The concept is that we would debate and discuss issues and formulate model statutes, ordinances and resolutions based upon a Biblical worldview for introduction in cities, counties, states and nationally at the federal level,” Rapert detailed in his email, according to the Arkansas Times.
He added that legislative issues will be tackled from the Judeo-Christian perspective.
The letter continues:
“Our founding fathers made four specific references to God in the Declaration of Independence referring to Him as Nature’s God, our Creator, the Supreme Judge of the World and Divine Providence. The founders hinged their rationale for declaring our independence upon the clear notion that God has given every person natural rights that no man created and no man can take away. Our nation is forgetting this fundamental principle of our American Republic and it is time that we take action before it is too late.”
The new association posted to Facebook Tuesday, noting its official launch.

“Today a national invitation has been sent to all 7,383 state legislators in the United States of America to join together in formation of the National Association of Christian Lawmakers,” the post reads. “Our national motto is “In God We Trust” and it is time that our lawmakers start honoring the Judeo-Christian foundation of our nation. Please SHARE this with all of your contacts.”
The announcement ended with the invoking of a poignant Scripture passage, taken from Psalm 33: “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.”
In the letter to legislators, Rapert attempted to entice future members with the promise that they will be part of something groundbreaking and influential. As well as being the first organization of its kind, the senator noted that those involved “will have a profound positive impact upon public discourse and the future direction of our nation.”
Rapert has been challenged relentlessly by atheist action groups such as the Freedom From Religion Foundation and American Atheists. Last month, the latter filed a federal lawsuit claiming the state senator violated the First and Fourteenth Amendments by blocking people on Twitter when they argued their different viewpoints. The complaint also accused Rapert of purposefully blocking plaintiffs due to their atheistic worldview.
But despite the ongoing legal challenge, Rapert is certainly not backing down in his social media battle against the atheist mob.
“Be advised,” Rapert addressed FFRF, after they tried to call him out on his new initiative, “we are restoring the order of things in our nation – historically, morally, spiritually and politically.”
Be advised @FFRF @AmericanAtheist – we are restoring the order of things in our nation – historically, morally, spiritually and politically. Your extreme agenda has convinced millions of Americans that we must take a stand to honor the Judeo-Christian foundation of our nation. https://t.co/dZLIAh9qIL

Indeed, the relentless and fierce opposition from atheist lobby groups is something that Rapert wants to address through his new initiative.
The Christian senator said that, over the years, he had been “targeted by the Satanic Temple, American Humanists, the Freedom From Religion Foundation and Planned Parenthood.” In addition, Rapert noted that he now wants to equip Christian leaders with the skills he believes are required in order to effectively combat those who are attempting to rid the nation of religious expression.
“I know what it is to fight for what is right and I want to ensure that other conservative Christian leaders are properly equipped to withstand the harassment tactics of the extreme Left which are meant to wear Christian leaders down in the public arena,” he added. “This is not just another educational organization – this is meant to be an effort to properly equip our leaders and put them into the battle to save our nation.”
