Christian comedian John Crist went off Wednesday on people criticizing singer Lauren Daigle for sidestepping a recent question she received about the issue of homosexuality.
In his characteristically blunt but comedic fashion, Crist told people to “just shut up” about the “You Say” artist’s uncertain response to a question regarding whether same-sex relationships are sinful.
“You know, I can’t honestly answer on that,” Daigle said during a radio interview in early December, noting she knows “too many people that I love” who “are homosexuals.”

In his Instagram story, Crist told people to leave Daigle alone because she’s “done more for the Kingdom in a year than you will do in five lifetimes.” He also rebuked those who questioned the recording artist’s faith following her remarks, calling the suggestion “so shallow.”
“Lauren Daigle — I’m sorry, like hundreds of songs lifting up the name of the Lord and led people to the Kingdom and articles and stories,” he said, “and one time she doesn’t say something that isn’t how you liked it? Get out.”
The comedian also bemoaned our current cultural climate, where it’s OK — and even expected — to broadcast any and every opinion we have.

“If you’re gonna come out with your Lauren Daigle or John Gray trash talk,” Crist said, “then every tweet, every song that gets played, every post, every Instagram that glorifies the Lord, you should just be celebrating, like, ‘Thank you! We love you.’ If you’re not, then just shut up.”
Earlier in the Instagram story thread, Crist also defended Houston-based pastor John Gray, who has taken heat recently for buying his wife a $200,000 Lamborghini for her birthday. Critics argued he, as a minister, shouldn’t be spending that kind of money on a personal luxury.
“Here’s my point: all of y’all are jumping on this man like, ‘Ah, let’s kill him!’” Crist said. “Like, first of all, what if he saved up for 20 years for that? You don’t know that. What if he gives millions of dollars to the poor? You don’t know that. What if he didn’t take anything from his church? You don’t know that.”
Crist also told those who have rebuked Gray to “shut your mouth.”
