A young cancer patient from Louisiana has been utterly overwhelmed with the massive response he has received after a family friend requested that people “flood his mailbox” with Christmas cards this holiday season. Drake Quibodeaux, who was diagnosed with the lethal Difuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) earlier this year, has received over 40,000 cards since, including one very special note from the White House.
“Dear Drake,
Melania and I recently learned of your diagnosis and send our prayers for your healing and recovery,” the President wrote. “The resolve and tenacity you have demonstrated during this difficult time is inspiring.”
He added: “We pray that God grants you strength as you courageously fight this battle. We hope you find comfort and peace in your faith and that you are uplifted by all those around you.”

“We are all on Team Drake!” the letter concluded, before being personally signed by Donald and Melania Trump.
The letters have continued to pour into the Vinton family’s mailbox ever since it was announced that Drake’s tumor was growing rapidly. DIPG is a high-grade brain tumor that attaches to the brain stem, causing a rapid decline in cognitive function and mobility. It is currently incurable.

At a time of year that is meant to be full of joy, this family is dealing with the brutal reality that their young boy is unlikely to survive much longer. But despite the heartbreaking circumstances, the stunning kindness and compassion of stangers has lifted the family’s spirits this Christmas. Drake’s original goal was to get 190 cards; so far, he has since been sent around 40,000 cards and gifts.

“We tape them to our front door,” said his mother, Danielle Quibodeaux, according to KPLCTV. ‘He just looks at them and says, “They love me so much mama.” I’m like, “Yes baby.”
Drake has been visited by police officers, soldiers, and has even been blessed with a personal meeting with Santa!

“We’re blown away with the support,” Quibodeaux said. “People will come up to me and they’re like ‘Thank you for letting us take part in this.'”
Do pray for Drake and the Quibodeaux family at this testing time.
