Chelsea Allshouse wrote what she described as the “hardest post I’ll ever make” on New Year’s Day.
Allshouse revealed Monday in a heartbreaking Facebook post that she and her husband, Brandon, lost their 7-month-old daughter, Madalynn, on New Year’s Eve, and they don’t know why.

“Last night was by far the worst night of my life,” Allshouse wrote. “I put Madalynn to sleep around 10:30. At midnight, Brandon checked on her. She was completely blue. She wasn’t breathing. We tried CPR for about 10 mins before emergency response arrived. They tried CPR for 45 mins.”
“My sweet precious girl went to be with Jesus last night,” the mother of two continued. “We are devastated. I want my little baby back. This doesn’t make sense to us.”
Allshouse’s sister-in-law, Jen, wrote in her own Facebook post that she’s “completely at a loss for words right now,” asking her friends and followers to “please keep this sweet family in your thoughts and prayers during this extremely difficult situation.”
The young mother wrote a follow-up post Wednesday morning. In it, she wrote that her “heart is aching” and her “mind is racing.”
“The world around me is moving at a rate of speed I never imagined possible and yet my world feels as if it’s at a standstill,” Allshouse wrote. “My sweet girl, who was healthy and happy, is just gone.”
“I’d do anything just to hold her, hear her coo, listen to her shrieking happily, feel her kiss my face, and watch those big eyes shrink into a happy little smile,” she continued. “Her passing has left a ginormous hole in my heart. I don’t know how to keep going. I don’t know how to function. No mother should ever have to bury their child.”
