Christian recording artist Mandisa, known for being a contestant on the fifth season of “American Idol,” is single, but she’s still praying for the right man to come along.
During a recent interview with the Tampa Bay Times, the “Overcomer” singer said she takes her singleness “very seriously,” noting it’s not something she has chosen intentionally.

“I’d love to be married, but the right man hasn’t come along yet. I pray for my future husband all the time,” she said. “I tell people being single can come with a lot of struggles, but it also has a lot of benefits. I am content with the state of life I’m in.”
This isn’t the first time Mandisa’s talked about relationships.
In 2010, the Grammy-winning entertainer talked about singleness with author Priscilla Shirer, who asked Mandisa if she’s concerned her career could “detour a man from being in relationship” with her.
After discussing it with her band members — both men and women — she told Shirer, “It will take a very strong, confident, and secure man to ‘deal’ with me, as my bass player said. I think that it is both a combination of my success and my independence. The men in my band all agreed that men like to feel needed.”

“I very simply (and probably very directly) explained to them that I didn’t ‘need’ a man,” she continued. “I’ve been living on my own for 14 years. I’ve been forced to be independent. I don’t think that’s a bad thing.”
The 42-year-old artist did concede, though, that God “will need to chip away at some of that independence to make room for a man’s place in my heart.”
This weekend, Mandisa will embark on the 2019 Winter Jam, the largest annual Christian music tour of the year.
