In a recent Tweet, actor Jim Carrey shared a graphic image of Governor Kay Ivey of Alabama being sucked into a tube, mimicking what an abortion would look like if it were performed on her instead of a baby.
“I think If you’re going to terminate a pregnancy, it should be done sometime before the fetus becomes Governor of Alabama,” Carrey wrote.
The tweet was pointed at the abortion ban that was passed in Alabama last week and signed into law by Governor Ivey, which highly restricts abortions in the state of Alabama.
“To the bill’s many supporters, this legislation stands as a powerful testament to Alabamians’ deeply held belief that every life is precious and that every life is a sacred gift from God,” Ivey said while signing the bill.
“To all Alabamians, I assure you that we will continue to follow the rule of law.”
The tweet did not go as planned
Shortly after Carrey shared the graphic image of Governor Ivey, the tweet backfired. Instead of getting angry at the inappropriate graphic, members of the pro-life commended Carrey for showing how gruesome and inhumane an abortion is through his graphic.
Ben Shapiro, founder and editor of the Daily Wire, pointed out that the image was graphic, but that it pointed out what a real abortion looks like.
“This is a pretty great depiction of an abortion: clinically accurate, and wiping out an individual human life,” Shapiro wrote in a tweet.
Liz Wheeler, a host on One America News Network, also thanked Carrey for sharing the graphic, yet accurate depiction of abortion.
“Thank you for the truly accurate (and therefore horrifying) portrayal of abortion… sucking out the brains of a PERSON because that person is inconvenient to you,” Wheeler tweeted.
“You blessed the pro-life movement with this,” she added.
Lil Rose, the founder of Live Action a pro-life organization, also chimed in, pointing out the hypocrisy of Twitter.
“The extreme double standard of jack & Twitter on full, gross display here,” she said pointing at Twitters founder Jack Dorsey.
“Jim Carrey publicly wishes death on someone and posts a gory photo of them being killed. He explicitly promotes a very violence that kills almost 1M people a year in the United States. & zero response,” Rose wrote.
Obianuju Ekeocha, a pro-life advocate, responded, thanking Carrey for showing an accurate picture of how gruesome abortion is.
“At least you seem to know how grisly an abortion is,” Ekeocha pointed out. “Your image is accurate down to the abortionist’s cannula suctioning out the brain matter of the fetus, sort of like a serial killer at work.”
“Bravo Jim Carry, you do know what an abortion looks like,” she added. “Bravo!”
