Pools can be a lifesaver in the hot summer months, but they can also be one of the most dangerous places for children to be at play. What is meant to be a fun way to cool off, can quickly turn the opposite if one is not careful.
For 3-year-old Kali Dallis, it only took seconds for her fun in the sun to turn into a very scary moment.
She was enjoying the afternoon sun, sitting in a green inner tube, when it unexpectantly flipped, sending her headfirst at her apartment complex in Chamblee, Georgia.
Painful seconds elapsed – which is very difficult to watch on video – before her older sister, 10-year-old Jayla, saw the troubling scene and immediately rushed from the opposite side of the pool, jumped into the water, and pulled her now lifeless and limp sister Dallis out of the pool.
A dramatic video that was pulled from the apartment complex surveillance tapes showed the older sister rush to her little sister’s rescue.
“She was, like, heavy, so I had to pull her by her hair, then I grabbed her by her waist and pulled her up,” Jayla Dallis said to WSB-TV in an interview.
After spending two weeks in critical condition in a hospital nearby, the 3-year-old was finally released this past Friday and is expected to make a full recovery thanks to her older sisters watchful eyes.
A responding police officer is also being praised for his actions, helping resuscitate the lifeless girl – the two now have an incredible bond.
Praise God for these heroes!
