Camille Joy is a Christian podcaster who shares heartwarming stories of joy with her audience each and every week. This past Thursday, Joy shared her own personal story of joy, the story of choosing life over abortion when she was a sixteen-year-old girl.
Joy was just sixteen years old when she became pregnant. Although she was scared and embarrassed, Joy chose to keep her baby, and it’s a decision she is thankful for every day.
“I had him when I was 16,” wrote Joy. “I chose not to abort my baby. Although I was scared and humiliated. Look at what God has done with his life!”
“I am so emotional this morning,” she continued. “My chest hurts because I’m so proud. Is that even possible lol.”
Joy shared how Quinton had recently not only graduated from Kolbe Cathedral High School, but that he had graduated with honors.
She proudly shared that following his graduation, he is headed to play basketball at Keene State College. Not only will Quinton be attending Keene State, but he received enough scholarship to cover 75 percent of his tuition.
“I had him when I was 16. I chose not to abort my baby. Although I was scared and humiliated. Look at what God has done with his life!”
“I’m just going to be crying all day I am not holding back!” she added. “He’s passed me and what I accomplished at this age. This feeling is so heavy. A good heavy. Thank you God.”
Joy ended her post by thanking all the people who had helped raise Quinton and shape him into being the man he is today.
“Shout out to Quinton’s village, his dad, My Husband(his stepdad), Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Mentors, Coaches. You all have helped the girl in that picture to raise an awesome young Man!”
Rather than abort her baby, Joy decided there was no other option than have Quinton, and rely on her community around her to help push him forward.
Joy’s story is a sweet example of the beauty that can come from choosing life, and surrounding yourself with a supportive community.
