Tyler Blevins, known on YouTube and in the gamer world by his alias “Ninja,” recently revealed his mother’s all-too-common experience: doctors urged her to abort her unborn son.
Blevins was that unborn son.
“For you guys who don’t know,” he said while streaming last month on Twitch, “I was not supposed to be born, potentially. A lot of the doctors told my mom that I had spina bifida or Down syndrome or a number of diseases, and that I should be aborted.”
Blevins, who reportedly earned $10 million in 2018 and has a combined 36 million followers between YouTube and Twitch, shared his birth story during a livestream for his 28th birthday, according to Live Action.
The youngest of three sons, “Ninja” thanked his mother for not listening to the doctors who encouraged termination.
“Nothing wrong with me,” he said. “My mom is a saint and an angel and I love her to death.”
What else?
Blevins has made no secret about his admiration for his mom, Cynthia.
Earlier this year, ESPN’s “SportsCenter” asked the famed gamer to write a note to Cynthia for Mother’s Day and record himself reading it. Little did he know, however, that his mother was in the room next door, listening in real-time as her youngest son read his letter.
“You always taught me that God has a plan,” he said, “and for that I thank you so much and I love you so much for that.”
At the end of the video, Cynthia surprises Blevins. “Mom,” he said, “all I want to do is keep being the man you raised me to be and bring as much joy into other people’s lives as you do into others every day.”
“I love you, son,” she replied. “I’m so proud of you.”
