On Thursday, a former Navy SEAL climbed to the top of a flag pole after noticing the American flag had broken loose and was hanging off the side of the pole.
Dom Raso, a former SEAL, shared a video to Instagram which shows him climbing the flag pole to clip the flags loose end, and fix the flags positioning.
“This was my fourth attempt at trying to get up and fix the flag,” Raso wrote on Instagram. “I couldn’t go by this flag this morning and not give it everything I had. The gold stars on this monument and the sacrifice that has been made for us all was something I wasn’t just going to pass by.”
“This flag pole climb reminded me about EVERYTHING in life,” he added.
Raso shared that this was his fourth attempt at fixing the flag, and that he had planned in his head how to fix it this final time.
“Literally had to visualize what I was doing wrong and what I had to do to correct my inefficiencies in order to improve for the next attempt,” he explained.
In the video, you can watch Raso climb to the top, clip the flag, and slide back down.
The video exploded, garnering 75,000 likes and almost 9,000 comments on Facebook, and 60,000 views on Instagram along with 900 comments.
In another video shared to Instagram, Raso encouraged his 136,000 followers, and fellow American’s to “step up and do what is right.”
“It doesn’t take many, it just takes a determined and convicted few,” he said. “I believe with all my heart and soul there is a wave of patriots in this country growing in strength and confidence each day. While we watch parts of our country fall to mainstream confusion, complacency, and ignorance, there is a few that are willing to climb or stand or do whatever it takes.”
He concluded his post quoting 1 Peter 2:15: “For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorance of foolish people.”
