Beloved Christian comedian Trey Kennedy likely shattered plenty of hearts across the country when he recently announced on Instagram that he was engaged to girlfriend Katie Byrum, a relationship that he’d kept out of the public eye and his fans knew nothing about.
In a nonchalant video to his Instagram stories on Thursday night, Kennedy introduced his 2.2 million followers to his fianée saying, “I got me a real simple southern gal,” adding, “that’s Katie.”
The comedian, known for his satirical videos, then shared a breathtaking photo to Instagram writing, “Meet Katie Byrum.”
John Crist, a fellow comedian and friend of Kennedy was amongst those congratulating the happy couple writing, “Myyyyyyyy guy,” then adding “Honestly if I’m not the best man I’m gonna riot.”
“We are getting married,” Katie wrote in all caps, “Trey Kennedy makes me the happiest! God is so so good!”
According to her Instagram biography, Byrum is a model, represented by impressive agencies Ursula Wiedmann Models and Wilhelmina. Her bio also tells us that she is a “biomedical engineer,” “GA Tech alumnus,” and a “Jesus follower.”
Although Kennedy and Byrum received countless comments congratulating them on their engagement, and a new season of life, many playfully jabbed Kennedy for keeping them in the dark.
Many of Kennedy’s followers were surprised that he was even in a relationship, commenting things like “how could you do this to me?” and “
One user wrote, “I didn’t even know you had a girlfriend how could you do this to me, to us,” while another wrote, “Congrats though, but low key feel betrayed that we never knew you had a GF this whole time.”
“The heartbreak heard around the world,” another user added.
Kennedy, who originally saw viral success through the app Vine, now has over 2 million followers on Instagram, 3 million Facebook followers, 130,000 Twitter followers, and 10 million Youtube views.
The comedian is well known for his satirical videos making fun of basic girls and funny things moms and dads do.
