David Eubank, founder of the Free Burma Rangers and a bold Christian missionary who regularly visits combat zones to help and minister to the wounded, has been in Syria for the past several weeks providing medical support as Turkey continues to launch drone strikes in several parts of Syria.
In a recent video, Eubank — who is no stranger to war— calmly describes how he was nearly killed by a drone strike. It was a near miss for Eubank, but tragically it claimed the life of the man standing directly next to him.
“I was almost killed myself. Guy next to me was killed,” Eubank said in the video. “I am here with my family, in fact Sahale (daughter) is videoing right now. I want to say thank you for praying for us because the powers of darkness here are great. And we can’t fight em,” he explained.
Here’s video of Eubank’s daughter giving a recent update:
Further discussing the complex nature of things on the ground, Eubank described some of the forces in the area contributing to the chaos.
“The human powers (of darkness) here – the Turkish army, the Russians are here, Syrians, Iranians, ISIS is still here. The Free Syrian Army the jihadists are here. We’re mice in the middle of this,” he said, before ultimately turning his attention to God for praise and thanks.
“But I thank Jesus that He brought us here. And we’re behind Him.”
Not many people will turn and thank God for putting them directly in the middle of a war zone, but that’s the type of faith Eubanks has. While he often deflects any commendation directed his way, the reality is he’s a great inspiration to Christians all across the globe whose faith is stirred by his boldness and trust in the Lord.
They’re also working hard to rebuild a destroyed church in Raqqa.
Obviously, Dave and his family are in a dangerous situation. Please add them to your prayer list. And if you’d like to help assist Dave and the incredible efforts of the Free Burma Rangers, you can learn more about them HERE.
