Mac Powell, lead singer of the Christian band Third Day, wrote in an Instagram post Monday that he and his family are “overwhelmed” by all the prayers and support they have received since his wife, Aimee, was hospitalized over the weekend for a brain aneurysm.
Powell decided to call an ambulance Saturday after his wife said her “head was hurting terribly.” When they got to the hospital, Aimee received a CT scan, which revealed bleeding in her brain.
She soon underwent a procedure “to put in [two] coils, which will keep the aneurysm from bleeding and possibly rupturing,” according to Powell.
How is she feeling now?
Though she is recovering well, the Third Day frontman said his wife is still “in a lot of pain.” She is on pain medication, but doctors told her it won’t eliminate all of the symptoms of the bleed.
“Eventually, as the blood from the rupture leaves her brain, it will work its way down to the neck and then her back,” Powell wrote in another post. “She’s getting a lot of rest — unfortunately, it’s usually only about 10 minutes of uninterrupted time with all the doctors and nurse visits and the alarms and beeps from the monitors.”
Powell shared in his post Monday that their daughter, Camie, has been coming to the hospital every night “to snuggle with me and Aimee on the couch.” That, though, didn’t go according to plan Monday, because Aimee was sent to the intensive care unit.
Instead, Camie snuggled with her mom in the hospital bed.
“We hear and feel your prayers,” Powell wrote. “The calls, texts, and posts have made me tear up quite a few times. She will most likely be here for a couple weeks. The pain is not going away soon. But there is so much to be thankful for.”
Powell and Aimee have received a lot of support from fellow Christian leaders. In the comments, worship leader Phil Wickham wrote, “Praying for you guys!” Author and teacher Lisa Harper commented, “Praying continually for y’all and for Aimee to be infused with His perfect peace and living hope as she’s recovering.
Others like Louie Giglio, Matt Maher, Jamie Grace, and Mandisa also offered up supportive messages.
Please continue to pray for peace for the Powell family and for healing for Aimee.
