It’s not every day you see athletes join together in prayer after a tough fought match.
But that’s exactly what happened after the Baylor and Wisconsin women’s volleyball teams met recently. The Official NCAA Volleyball Instagram account posted the touching moment:
After the game, one of the players for Baylor led multiple players from each team in a heartfelt prayer.
“Let’s pray. Thank you so much for this chance to play volleyball, the sport we love,” she began. “We lift up Wisconsin volleyball to you, God, keep them safe and healthy in their next match, Lord.”
The fervent prayer continued.
“We just thank you so much for who you are, God. That your Word says you love us so much. And that your son Jesus came and died on this earth for our sins, God, so that we could be close to you, Father,” the young woman prayed as the others prayed along intently.
“And so I pray we accept that truth, God, and that we just be obedient to the things you are calling us to do in this life, God. We love you so much. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
Praise God for these young women of faith, who despite intense competition are able to see that we are all connected by our shared status as children of the Creator of the universe, not by college teams.
