President Trump gave a wide-ranging speech today in the wake of Iran’s missile strike, proclaiming that Iran appears to be standing down, while also promising Iran will never have nuclear weapons.
He also went on to assure that no Americans were harmed in Iran’s missile attack. He said the U.S. is interested in pursuing peace, but also announced “punishing” sanctions on Iran to go in effect immediately.
‘No Americans were harmed in last night’s attack by the Iranian regime’ President Trump assured the American people, before promising that Iran’s reign of terror around the world will no longer be tolerated.
He went on to tout the killing of Qasem Soleimani and listed the many atrocities he was responsible for around the region and the world.
“In recent days he was planning new attacks on targets, but we stopped him,” Trump said. “He should have been terminated long ago.”
“The United States will immediately impose punishing sanctions” on Iran, the President explained. “These sanctions will remain until Iran changes its behavior.”
The President also promised during the speech that Iran would “never” have nuclear weapons under his watch. He also expressed gratitude that Iran appeared to be “standing down” after the missile attack last night that Trump said America was well prepared for, thanks to a new early warning defense system.
He also said Iran’s days of terrorizing the rest of the world “are over” and that he won’t tolerate future terrorist actions if Iran conducts them, surely a message intended to make Iranian leaders pause and consider their own fate before unleashing future attacks.
