Lou Binninger was in his California home Sunday, where he found an intruder — a former Hollywood actor — hiding in his vehicle.
Binninger, a gun owner, found the man, who was later determined to be 40-year-old Shaun Weiss of “Mighty Ducks” fame, inside his vehicle in his garage, KTXL-TV reported.
During the 7 a.m. encounter, Binninger said the man “took this hammer and knocked the window out” of his vehicle, noting the intruder was also talking to himself.
Binninger had a firearm with him, but he told the local news outlet he “didn’t feel threatened” but instead “felt at peace” as the incident unfolded.
The homeowner called the police, who later said Weiss appeared to be under the influence of methamphetamine.
Despite the unpleasantness of the event, though, Binninger said he doesn’t believe it was a coincidence. Binninger believes it was inspired, because he works with drug addicts at the Yuba County Jail, where he teaches classes and coordinates counseling sessions.
“I call it a ‘God incident,’” he explained. “It was a divine fit. He needed help, and I can help him.”
Weiss was booked into the Yuba County Jail.
“There’s help,” Benninger said. “So if he’s ready, we can help him.”
Weiss was also arrested in August 2018 on suspicion of being under the influence of drugs. At the time, the actor checked himself into a long-term rehabilitation center.
