ESPN NBA reporter Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news this morning that Utah Jazz star player Donovan Mitchell has tested positive for the coronavirus.
He is believed to have contracted the virus from teammate Rudy Gobert, who tested positive last night, forcing the cancellation of their game vs. the Oklahoma City Thunder. The entire NBA season was suspended just a few hours later.
According to Wojnarowski, Gobert was reportedly “careless” in the locker room and touching other players and their belongings. A viral clip of Gobert mocking the NBA’s safety protocols days earlier show the All-Star center jokingly touching all of the microphones in a bizarre display before leaving the press room.
Hours later, he would test positive for the virus and ultimately be responsible for helping shut down the entire NBA season for the time being.
Let this serve as a (hopefully obvious) reminder to take the coronavirus seriously in order to slow the spread and protect ourselves as well as others.
Gobert’s apparently personal lack of concern for the virus has become the poster child example of what not to do. Listen to health experts. Wash your hands for 30 seconds or more. Avoid unnecessary social contact when at all possible.
And as always, continue praying!
