The federal government is now in charge of handling the pandemic and directing national funding to state and local governments.
Testing is at the forefront in facing a national emergency as the global pandemic shutters schools, workplaces and sporting events across the country.
President Trump was joined by Vice President Mike Pence and others as they discussed the plan going forward in greater detail.
President Trump then took questions from members of the media, which included several inquiries about why the testing has been so slow to reach larger numbers, South Korea have managed to do so far.
