The whole world is figuring out how best to react to this coronavirus pandemic, and the people of Israel have given us a great example of gratitude.
On Thursday evening, Israeli citizens took to their balconies to applaud their medical personnel and volunteers for their tireless efforts to help those suffering from the novel coronavirus, known as COVID-19.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu commended those who have praised the medical professionals for their courageous efforts during this medical crisis.
“We join in once again to applaud the brave medical crews standing at the forefront and protecting all of us,” he said, according to i24 News. “Bravo! Thank you so much.”
As of Friday morning, 705 Israelis had tested positive for COVID-19. The overwhelming majority of the cases in the country are mild and there have been at least 15 recoveries. Ten patients are in critical condition, suffering from severe symptoms.
Following much of the rest of the world right now, the Israeli government has banned gatherings of 10 or more people and has shuttered cultural and recreational establishments as well as closing schools and universities.
