As Hurricane Laura picks up steam and potentially becomes a Category 4 Hurricane, CBN’s Chuck Holton is in Lake Charles, Louisiana reporting on the latest developments.
In the relative calm before the storm, Holton describes a “pretty severe” squall that came through causing some flooding and other damage. Watch that report here (continue scrolling for Holton’s livestream of Hurricane Laura approaching):
“This is going to be a big deal,” Holton told CBN viewers, relaying information from experts who are predicting massive storm surges that would be “unsurvivable” for local residents trying to ride it out.
According to CBN News, Hurricane Laura has been upgraded to a powerful Category 4 storm as of Wednesday afternoon. The latest warning from the National Hurricane Center says Hurricane Laura could slam the Gulf Coast with an “unsurvivable” storm surge of 20 feet.
Holton is now holed up in a high rise hotel in Lake Charles, Louisiana and has started a livestream for CBN viewers and will continue going live as the situation permits.
