According to the Texas Home School Coalition, the number of families pulling their kids out of public schools in favor of homeschooling has soared an astonishing 300% during the month of August.
This time last year saw 1,044 families opt out of the public school system while this year that number has ballooned to 4,055. The primary reason for the dramatic dropout rate appears to be the plan schools have put in place to deal with Coronavirus.
The spike, the group reported, stems directly from the Texas Education Agency’s (TEA) pandemic schooling guidelines sparking a mass exodus from the public school system as parents opt to teach their children at home over enrolling them in a digitized, remote state-run classroom.
CBN has reported on the nationwide trend of homeschooling on the rise in the past, even before Coronavirus hit the nation. The pandemic and ensuing response seems to have pushed families considering pulling their kids out of the public school system over the edge.
Drag queen story hours, anti-American sentiment, and hostility towards faith have been issues at the forefront of parents’ frustration with government schooling. Teachers have been caught recently strongly suggesting they should keep parents out of the loop on teaching radical progressive agendas on sex and gender because they get in the way.
God has given parents a unique responsibility to raise their children up in the ways of the Lord, but many are finding that’s becoming more and more difficult to do via government schooling programs that often stand in direct opposition to parents trying to instill faith and Biblical values in their children.
Pray for all parents making difficult decisions right now in how to educate their children.
