It’s not every day you see a megachurch pastor play the saxophone.
But this Sunday, Jentezen Franklin, pastor of Free Chapel in Gainesville, Georgia, did just that when he performed his version of the popular song “Fight My Battles,” written by Elyssa Smith, a member of the worship ensemble Upperroom.
“This is how I fight my battles,” wrote Franklin.
Franklin, who became a Christian at the age of 16, has been playing alto saxophone for a long time. He majored in music as a student at Barton College in North Carolina, where he received a full scholarship, according to CBN.
And during his sophomore year, his older brother, Ritchie, a preacher, asked Franklin to go on the road with him playing saxophone. Franklin agreed, and the brothers spent three weeks touring together. He hasn’t left the ministry since.
Franklin frequently plays the saxophone from the pulpit. The video above is just his latest performance, and it does not disappoint.
