Argentina’s Senate has voted in favor of a bill that legalizes abortion through 14 weeks pregnancy, a time during the baby’s development in the womb that features their eyes, legs and arms all increasing movements as well as hands beginning to practice moving towards the mouth.
The Senate in the Catholic majority country voted 38-29 in favor of allowing the option to end the baby’s life, resulting in a disturbing scene of a massive crowd celebrating the result.
Interestingly, the same playbook used in the United States to legalize abortion – language such as “safe, legal, rare” – has been employed by pro-abortion advocates in Argentina for years. Their language of choice is “legal, safe and free” and it remains to be seen if that posture will disappear soon after, as it did in the US in recent years. Instead of a somber attitude toward abortion that admits the harm done, most pro-choice advocates today proudly celebrate abortions as a perfectly acceptable choice to make.
Pro-life advocates fear there will be a cascading effect in the region, as El Salvador, Nicaragua and the Domincan Republic have banned abortion altogether. Most Latin American nations have strict restrictions and only allow the ending of life in the womb in extreme circumstances.
The mainstream media has presented a decidedly one sided picture, often featuring heroic and celebratory images meant to invoke feelings of success, progress and victory. Pro-lifers are rarely quoted and when they are, it’s buried deep within the article.
Faithwire previously reported on how pro-lifers were fighting to stop abortion from being legalized, but ultimately their efforts fell short.
Pray for the unborn all across the globe, as the movement to make ending their precious little lives easier becomes increasingly popular.
