Gina Carano — the “Mandalorian” star Disney booted earlier this month — spoke out in an interview that aired over the weekend, offering a behind-the-scenes look into the weeks that led up to her ouster from the popular “Star Wars” series.
During a conversation with The Daily Wire’s Ben Shapiro, with whom the 38-year-old actor has signed a movie contract, Carano said Disney made it “very obvious” they were pushing her out.
“I was prepared at any point to be let go because I’ve seen this happen to so many people,” Carano told Shapiro. “I’ve seen the looks on their faces. I’ve seen the bullying that takes place, and, so, when this started, they pointed their guns at you, and you know it’s only a matter of time. I’ve seen it happen to so many people, and I just thought to myself, ‘You’re coming for me. I know you are.’”

“They’re making it very obvious through their employees who were coming for me, and so, I was like, ‘I’m going to go down swinging and I’m going to stay true to myself,’” she added.
As Faithwire previously reported, Carano made headlines when Lucasfilm — a Disney subsidiary — made the decision to cut ties with the celebrity after she shared the following message on Instagram:
Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers, but by their neighbors — even by children.
Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews.
How is that any different from hating someone for their political views?
However, as Carano explained to Shapiro, several people at Disney and Lucasfilm had been “head hunting” her for months, meaning they had been looking for a way to get rid of the actor.
She said it was confirmed to her that Disney executives were eyeing her after “someone at the company accidentally sent me a conversation that they were tracking the ‘Fire Gina Carano’ hashtag” on social media.
“They accidentally sent me an email, which was very enlightening, so I knew,” Carano said. “I knew they were paying attention.”
She went on to note executives at Disney had been “watching me like a hawk.”
Carano, who is politically conservative, first frustrated executives at the entertainment company when she jokingly added “beep/bop/boop” to her Twitter handle last fall, poking fun at those on the left trying to force her to list her “preferred pronouns” on her social media bios.
Her publicist first told her she needed to issue an apology for the joke and forced her to participate in a Zoom video call with transgender leaders after watching a pro-LGBT documentary. To their credit, Carano described the transgender advocates as friendly and supportive, telling the celebrity they understood the “pronoun” joke was not at all intended to be derogatory toward the LGBT community.
“I don’t have any hate in my heart for anyone,” said Carano, who played the character Cara Dune on “The Mandalorian.” In fact, despite her soured relationship with Disney, Carano made clear to Shapiro she still has a good friendship with her co-star, Pedro Pascal, whom she said she “adores.”
To Disney, though, that didn’t seem to matter.

“I’ve been called so much,” Carano said. “I’ve been called ‘racist,’ I’ve been called ‘transphobe,’ I’ve been called ‘homophobe,’ I’ve been called now ‘anti-Semitic.’” … I don’t take those things lightly. Like you’re calling me, my soul, the blood that runs through me — you’re calling me that. … You say that once to me, like, you’re done. I don’t want to talk to your ever again.”
Carano — who found out she’d been fired via social media — accused Disney and Lucasfilm of “bullying” and said she knows she’s “not the only one,” acknowledging she’s seen it happen to others as well.
