Fox News meteorologist Janice Dean slammed “The View” in a tweet thread posted Tuesday morning, accusing the gatekeepers for the ABC show of refusing to have her on to discuss her new book as well as New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s (D) handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dean, who has been an outspoken critic of Cuomo’s COVID-related policies that potentially resulted in deaths in both nursing homes and homes for people with developmental disabilities, revealed her book publicist at HarperCollins has asked “several times” if the author could appear on “The View” to no avail.

The meteorologist, a close personal friend of co-host Meghan McCain, has gone on the show before. Dean appeared on “The View” in May 2019, when she promoted her book, “Mostly Sunny: How I Learned to Keep Smiling Through the Rainiest Days.” The show’s co-hosts also defended her against a body shaming attack in 2018.
In her thread, Dean, whose in-laws died of COVID-19 in nursing homes, suggested “The View” is blackballing her for political reasons, writing that co-host Sunny Hostin “can go on every day and bash other governors … instead of calling out Cuomo for ordering over 9,000 COVID patients into nursing homes, covering up deaths, and, oh, sexually harassing at least [seven] women.”
She was referring to a segment Monday when Hostin seemed to suggest the media is biased against conservatives, condemning those in the press for being “hyper-focused” on Cuomo when they should be, in her opinion, rebuking Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), whom she referred to as “Death-Santis.” (The Associated Press reported over the weekend that, despite the very different pandemic responses from DeSantis in Florida and Gov. Gavin Newsom in California, the toll the virus took in each state has been nearly the same.)
Dean also claimed co-host Joy Behar indicated she’d “rather have criminal [Cuomo] than a Republican governor,” a suggestion the Fox News meteorologist said made her “sick.”
Behar sympathized with Cuomo for having to deal with “so many people piling on” him, arguing it will be difficult for the Democrat to govern when he’s been accused of sexual misconduct and is facing serious criticisms over his botched handling of the pandemic, referring to his infamous March 25 executive mandate barring nursing homes and elder-care facilities from denying admission or re-admission to residents who tested positive for COVID-19 or were believed to be infected with the virus.
“What worries me is that, if he resigns, and, fast-forward down the line, a Republican becomes the governor of New York State, a lot of things will happen that I won’t be happy with,” she said, going on to praise him for his political views. “[S]o let us think carefully about what we’re doing here, fellow Democrats.”
A few minutes later, McCain unloaded on the left’s double standard for Cuomo.

“I just want someone to show a flash of the videos of people talking about Brett Kavanaugh and the videos of people talking about Andrew Cuomo,” she said. “It’s a very weird message to go from, ‘Believe all women. One accusation is enough to be put in jail and to lose your job,’ to, ‘Oh, if his politics are in the right way, you can grope whoever you want because gun control is more important.’”
“That is a very murky, nebulous, ugly, hypocritical message for Democrats to be putting out,” McCain added. “I don’t understand why we’re still having a conversation.”
