President Joe Biden gave his first solo press conference since taking office 65 days ago, and reaction has been mixed.
Some of the moments gaining the most attention from the conference:
The moment Biden lost his train of thought and abandoned it mid-sentence was highlighted by many:
He also went on a bit of a tangent at one point in the conference and began raising his voice randomly in the middle of his thought. Watch:
He was also asked about whether or not he would run for re-election:
He touted getting “100 million shots” into the arms of Americans, even though the Trump administration was already on pace to achieve that goal before Biden took office.
And the gaffe that has received a lot of attention was when Biden said he came into the Senate 120 years ago:
When asked about if his rhetoric is causing people to flood the border accused President Trump of allowing kids to starve at the border.
He also said the GOP makes “Jim Crow look like Jim Eagle” because of “voter suppression” bills:
Needless to say, the conference drew a lot of commentary from both sides of the aisle.
Conservative commentator Candace Owens expressed concern over Biden’s ability to communicate and said “are we supposed to feign surprise when Biden announces that he’s stepping down as President to deal with health issues?” in a tweet.
Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh questioned the wisdom in electing older candidates:
Fox News host Kennedy critiqued the press as being “soft” in their questioning.
Over on the other side of the aisle, Daily Beast reporter Wajahat Ali said he thought Biden did “fine” and “actually understands the issues.”
Max Boot called Biden’s press conference “crisp” and showed “he is fully in command of the issues.”
