“Basic Instinct” star Sharon Stone is slamming cancel culture as the “stupidest thing I have ever seen,” arguing people shouldn’t be condemned for having different beliefs and experiences.
The 63-year-old celebrity made the comments during an appearance on the SiriusXM show “Just Jenny” with host Jenny Hutt, who asked Stone about people feeling “afraid to have real conversations.”

“I think cancel culture is the stupidest thing I have ever seen happen,” said Stone. “I think when people say things that they feel and mean, and it’s offensive to you, it’s a brilliant opportunity for everyone to learn and grow and understand each other.”
She went on to point out that people come from different places in life and carry with them different experiences and convictions.
“We all come from different ages, different cultures, different backgrounds, different things, and have had different experiences, different traumas, different upbringings, different parents, different religious backgrounds, different everything,” she said. “Give people an opportunity to discuss things before you wipe out their entire person over a statement or a comment or a misunderstanding.”
She then encouraged people to “stop being so small.”
“People have done so much more than one sentence,” Stone added. “Grow up. Grow some empathy.”

The condemnation from the Hollywood star comes just weeks after Disney+ and Lucasfilm cut ties with Gina Carano, who portrayed Cara Dune in “The Mandalorian.”
Carano said the left-leaning company was “coming for” her over her conservatives views. Disney, for its part, has claimed it had nothing to do with the actor’s political views.
Since the entertainer’s ouster, she has signed a movie deal with new and up-and-coming entertainment platform The Daily Wire.
“They can’t cancel us if we don’t let them,” she said at the time.
